Why the need to be productive doesn't work for me and I what I do instead.
The fastest way to be hard on myself is to think......
“I need to do more.”
It's a quick boulder to the chest. A heaviness that tightens my shoulders and restricts my breathing.
My brain tells me that the only way out of this pressure is to keep at it until it’s done.
I will eventually get it done and for a split second, feel relieved, until the brain offers “what’s next?”
At which point, I feel exhausted and disappointed in myself for taking so long that I want to quit altogether. Sure, I might get what I want but I am so hard on myself that I don’t actually feel like I succeeded in the end.
The need to be productive doesn’t work for me anymore.
My belief in
“the more I produce,
the more value I provide,
the more I am worth,”
doesn’t work for me anymore.
Now what?
A common question I hear a lot is:
How do you change from being someone who has always been hard on themselves, to someone who is gentler and has more compassion for themselves? While still making an impact this world?!
It may seem easier at times to drill certain thoughts into your mind to drive and push you to take action towards your goal, but it's a less enjoyable and more exhausting approach.
The only thing between who you are now and who you want to be is making the decision to do so.
You may say you want to be more productive day to day and be more present in your life, but have you actually decided that it is an outcome that’s certain for you?
The difference between wanting something in your life to happen and living in the life you want, is deciding to have it.
I decided to be someone who is present and creates what she wants at every moment. I choose to have time and financial freedom without overworking myself. I continue to choose with love for my soul.
Deliberately deciding to be easier on yourself is a skill you can master also.
By learning to master the decision-making, you open yourself up to self-trust, self-compassion and self-worth with ease.
No matter how many people you want to show up for, or how many ideas you want to manifest, or how chaotic your life might be for you to focus on you, you can decide to change that now.
You can choose to succeed with ease right now. Decide with confidence and create your new reality.
