Save hours of upset in 10 minutes.

Pause. Present this moment of self-awareness. Think of one person that you love.
  • In what ways is this person here to show you the way to help you connect with your highest self?
Would it be possible that your thoughts about what they say to you or how they respond to you is purely a reflection of your mind?

I was out at the park with my friends last Saturday.
It was 5pm. I told my spouse that I would be home an hour later.
I texted him at 7:33pm to say that I was driving home.
He reminded me to make a stop at the market.
I got home at 8:40pm.
He said, “it’s almost 9pm, I ate dinner already.”

I got upset. That morning he said he was going to cook dinner. I thought that my text to him was an indication that I was coming home to have dinner with him. I was disappointed that he didn’t wait for me to have dinner or communicate his decision with me. He didn’t make the dinner, he ate something else. I came home to no dinner. I was hungry. I threw a hangry tantrum.

He told me, “look at the mirror and think about who you’re really upset at.”
I was triggered.

The anger amplified… and then I remembered.

I reminded myself of my truth. “I master fear.”
  • I could choose to respond to fear - resist connection with him and my highest self, leave the room and slam the door.
  • I could choose to respond with love - connect with my highest self, use his words as guidance and question my thoughts about the whole situation.
I chose to surrender to my truth and highest self.

He was right. I was upset that I didn’t communicate to him about my change of plans. I was feeling guilty about not honouring my own word and I wanted to deter the guilt onto him. I wanted to create more guilty energy at that moment.
The anger subsided. It wasn’t about him. I wasn’t acknowledging my guilt.

Truth sets in. Freedom and expansion follows.
A possible few days of anger and disappointment was over in 10 minutes.
I acknowledged my truth, I forgave myself and I apologized and thanked him for showing me the way.
I saved hours of misery because I practiced self-mastery.

Every connection is a connection with your highest self.
Every connection is a connection with love.
Are you willing to be wrong about your thoughts?
Are you willing to use the people in your life to show you the way to inner peace and love?

Live Freely as You,
Vanessa
