Today I am going to share a short story I learned from the book 365 Days of Insight written by fellow Canadian Peter Legge, chairman and CEO of Canada Wide Media Ltd.
The story goes like so:
The Tale of Two Wolves
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said,
“My son, the battle is between two “wolves” inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, doubt, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, forgiveness, truth, compassion and faith.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
What I love about this story is that it’s so simple and impactful at the same time.
Evil wolf = negative emotions caused by counterproductive thoughts.
Good wolf = positive emotions caused by useful thoughts.
Thoughts are our creative energy and power and the root cause to all our problems and current results.
As I like to say, "where your energy flows, abundance grows.”
Which wolf are you feeding?
Where are you focusing your energy towards?
Can you hear yourself?
COUNTERPRODUCTIVE
- I/She/He should...
- I don’t want…
- I don’t know…
- Not enough…
- Too much...
USEFUL
- I/She/He could...
- I want…
- I am figuring out how to…
- I am learning how to….
- It’s possible...
Why are you choosing to think it?
What emotion do you feel from thinking it?
What can you think instead?
Are you struggling to feed the Good wolf lately? Can I help you?
In 45 minutes, I can help you gain clarity over why you might be feeling this way so you can move on with your life. I’m here for you!
Book at time with me and let’s get to the bottom of this!
